https://weeditors.org/Journals/index.php/journals/article/view/8

The pressure for indexing compromises the editorial policies of journals. This has led to predatory journals and unethical practices, consequently transforming some publications into commercial entities. Researchers, pressured to be indexed, may compromise the integrity of their work, which affects trust in scientific literature and the quality of research. In this regard, the objective of this study was to identify unethical attitudes assumed by scientific journals that have been influenced by the need for indexing. In this way, classic documentary analysis was used as the main method, corresponding to a documentary study with a theoretical contribution. The results obtained include the systematization of unethical practices carried out within the framework of scientific journals to increase their positioning in databases and other evaluation sources. It was concluded that the positioning of scientific journals is a complex phenomenon that involves editorial quality, impact metrics, and communication strategies. The obsession with indexing can compromise the integrity of research and divert the focus from the scientific mission. It is essential that editors and researchers reflect on their practices, prioritizing quality and ethics to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and social well-being.
Luis Ernesto Paz EnriqueEsteban Rodríguez Torres

In the h index impact indicator, Káñina behaves similar to the rest of journals in tis disciplinary field. In visibility and downloads, according to Redalyc, Káñina has better scores in relation to the journals in its area. There is a need to evaluate scientific journals with more standardized indicators so they can be compared with their peers in other contexts.
Ginette Sánchez Gutiérrez

https://weeditors.org/Journals/index.php/journals/article/view/12

Contemporary universities bear the social responsibility of addressing the demands of their era. University education emphasizes the appropriate scientific development of its professionals, enabling them to produce high-quality scientific writings and effectively disseminate knowledge and research findings. This research aims to develop a system of improvement actions for enhancing healthcare professionals' proficiency in scientific article writing. Given the insufficient mastery of publication standards for scientific article writing among healthcare professionals in Guantánamo, an exploratory descriptive study was conducted on scientific articles received by the Revista Información Científica of the University of Medical Sciences of Guantánamo, Cuba, between January 2016 and December 2019. Thirty-five authors were randomly selected and surveyed to assess their knowledge of scientific writing. Additionally, eleven specialists were interviewed to evaluate the proposed system of actions. Scientific methods, including observation, surveys, and expert judgment, were employed to address the research problem. The study revealed deficiencies such as limited knowledge regarding the chosen research topic, insufficient skills in scientific text composition, and a lack of familiarity with publication norms or guidelines. The implementation of the proposed actions fostered both personal and group motivation upon completion. The positive evaluations provided by specialists and users support the application of these actions for preparing healthcare professionals in scientific article writing.
Hilda Lidia Iznaga BrooksLee Yang Díaz-ChiengIslenis Mercedes Ramírez PelegrínMaría del Rosario Parra CastellanosYazmín Olivarez Rojas
